The OLV Charities Mission Advancement team came to the in-house Creative team looking for a designed box they could send out to donors and others. The goal was to have some very eye-catching packaging that would grab donors’ attention, or just be a beautiful piece to send some thank you gifts. As the designer, I really wanted a piece that was interconnected and featured all the work we do at the OLV organizations. To start, I came up with an illustration of OLV National Shrine & Basilica (the iconic Buffalo, NY church we’re associated with), incorporating some hands, a heart with the OLV cross in the center, and some heart beat lines. This illustration is all interconnected, and it connects to a bunch of circles and lines that go around the outside and inside of the box as well. These circles feature the people we help at OLV Charities, OLV Human Services, and OLV National Shrine & Basilica. The overall message of the box was to show how Charities and our sibling organizations are connected, and the good we do for the people in our community who need it most. With some more illustrations on the inside and a custom message to whoever we’re sending the box to, the piece really comes together no matter who it’s for or the purpose it’s being used for.
