OLV National Shrine & Basilica Day of Giving Poster

OLV National Shrine & Basilica was in need of a poster to promote a food drive they were hosting on the annual Father Baker Day of Giving in October of 2022. They came to OLV Charities, the Shrine’s sibling organization, to create this poster. Along with the Chief Creative Officer and the Director of Community Engagement, I communicated with the people over at the Shrine on what they needed and I set out on completing a design for this poster.

A lot of food drive imagery and photography can be 1, misleading and not even feature the items a food drive would normally collect, and 2, can be a bit stale-looking. The Shrine wanted something more community-based and eye-catching, so I came up with the idea of creating an actual custom illustration in a fun style featuring items they actually need while incorporating some fun “Food Drive” type into the mix. I also included the cross that features in the “O” of all the OLV logos and placed that in a heart for an added branding touch. This ended up being a design we blew out across web, social, and email spaces, and it was a fun, eye-catching design that encouraged people to donate and do some good in their community.
