Victory Nite was always one of two yearly events that OLV Charities’ hosted to raise money for the OLV Organizations. It’s a staple night that everyone associated with the organization—friends, employees, and donors—look forward to attending each year to support a good cause while having a good time. Prior to 2023, the event always had a yearly theme, complete with a temporary logo and branding that updated each year. In 2023, OLV decided to combine their two big yearly events—Victory Nite and The Friends of Father Baker—into one large event called, Victory Nite: Presented by the Friends of Father Baker. They also decided to have official, dedicated branding for the event to give it more of an identity.

So I took this idea and came up with some logo options for the event to begin. Keep scrolling to learn about the creative process, ideation, and pieces that went into the design of this event.

Creative Process and Initial Logo Development

I began with some initial logo concepts, focusing in on the “Nite” aspect of the event. I wanted looks that evoked nighttime and elegance, a modern take on a gala logo. Going off of the OLV brand, I thought navy, OLV teal, and metallic gold would fit with the nighttime aesthetic really well, while also keeping in brand with OLV. Through a couple rounds of concepts, these were some logo ideas I came up with:

After a few rounds of designs and edits, the final logo was selected below. OLV stakeholders liked the usage of the basilica in the design, the curves of the text, and the moon and stars reflecting the theme of a nighttime gala. A glowing OLV teal version on the deep navy and a metallic gold version are primarily used throughout all event pieces.

Event Deliverable Design

After a final concept was chosen, the logo then needed to inform the design of the deliverables. The glow, stars, moon, and gold from the logo were used in the design to push the nighttime feel of the gala. And items that were a bit different from the main branded items, like the cigar party invites, still had an elegance to them that fit in with the logo and brand of the event. The look was used across letterheads, envelopes, invites, and signage for the event. Below are a couple invites for different support events that led up to Victory Nite to give an idea of the design of event deliverables.
